A good personal assistant gives you the freedom to focus on your priorities. A great personal assistant, on the other hand, makes it look like you have no priorities at all. And that’s exactly what a great virtual assistant does: they take care of everything so well that you don’t even notice them doing it. They’re like ninjas!

Make your life easier

A great virtual assistant can help you with a lot of things. They can help you with your email, calendar, and other tasks. They can also help with social media management and website maintenance.

Be organized

The #1 job of a great virtual assistant is to be organized.

You can’t work efficiently if you don’t have an organized system for managing your time and tasks, and it’s even more difficult if you’re not sure where to find all the information that comes across your desk each day. If you’re trying to juggle multiple projects at once, it’s crucial that everything gets done in order of priority so that nothing falls through the cracks or gets overlooked.

The best way to stay on top of things is by creating systems that work with your own natural tendencies – not against them! For example: I’m terrible at keeping track of my emails (I always forget which ones require responses), so I use Gmail labels as reminders instead; this way my inbox stays clean without being overwhelming because only important messages appear there by default (and those can still be filtered out if necessary).

Do what you’re told, but don’t take too much initiative

The number one job of a great virtual assistant is to do what you’re told. You should be able to take on any task that comes your way and do it well, but you shouldn’t try to do more than you’re asked. It’s tempting to want to take on tasks outside of your job description because they sound like fun or are easy, but this can lead to problems down the road if the client starts asking for more work than they should have.

You should also avoid becoming too attached with certain clients that may not always be there as much as others (for example: if they travel frequently). If something happens where a client moves away or stops paying their bills, then we need someone else who can step right in without missing a beat!

Be a great writer

A great virtual assistant is a great writer.

You may be thinking, “I’m not a writer! I can’t do this!” Well, you are probably right–you don’t have the experience or education required to be an award-winning author just yet. But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn how to write well enough for your business needs and then practice until it becomes second nature.

The best way for virtual assistants (and anyone else) to learn how to write well is by reading good writing from other people–and then copying what they did into their own work! It sounds simple enough but there’s actually some science behind why this works so well: we learn best through imitation and repetition, both of which happen more naturally when we’re doing something enjoyable like reading stories rather than struggling through grammar textbooks or taking tests on punctuation rules that seem totally arbitrary anyway (don’t argue with me).

Be able to multitask

Multitasking is a skill, and it can be trained. It’s not something that you are born with, and it’s not something that only some people have the ability to do well. Multi-tasking is a learned skill that can be practiced over time until you become proficient at it. In fact, if you want to get better at multitasking as a virtual assistant or personal assistant in general, I would highly recommend taking some time every week or two (or whenever your schedule allows) and practicing your multi-tasking skills by doing something like trying out different types of puzzle games on your phone or tablet while listening to podcasts or music on another device (or even watching videos).

A great virtual assistant is also a great personal assistant.

A great virtual assistant is also a great personal assistant.

While this may seem like an obvious statement, it’s important to note that not every virtual assistant will make a good personal assistant. In fact, many are better at being your “virtual”–that is, they excel at handling administrative tasks and other jobs that don’t require face-to-face interaction with clients or colleagues. But those who can handle both? They’re the ones who are going to earn your trust and loyalty over time (and get lots of referrals).

In summary, a great virtual assistant is one who makes your life easier. They are organized, are able to multitask, and can handle any task you throw at them without complaint or hesitation. A good VA will also keep track of everything so that they know where everything should be at any given time.
